About Us

James G. Halvorson, DC, DACAN

I am an evidenced-based chiropractor and for more than 30 years, I have dedicated myself to researching the intricacies of the spine.  I am particularly interested in Dr. William Kirkaldy-Willis‘ model of degeneration that he eloquently described in his book, “Managing Low Back Pain.”   Dr. Kirkaldy-Willis, a medical school professor, orthopedic surgeon, researcher and author, worked for years with a chiropractor, Dr. David Cassidy, at the the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.  There, they treated patients, published studies and educated members of the health care profession about the virtues of working together in order to best serve their patients.

This multi-disciplinary, team-approach to health care has been my passion ever since I discovered the writings of Kirkaldy-Willis.  I have worked for several remarkable medical groups and I owned a private clinic in North Carolina for 14 years.  By far, my favorite way to practice is in a group setting with other providers sharing their gifts and talents.

Currently, I am a staff chiropractor at Temecula Valley Advanced Medicine in Murrieta, California.  At TVAM, we provide primary medical services, chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, nutrition and regenerative medicine.  We are committed to helping people achieve and maintain optimal health.

20 years ago, in 1997, the Agency for Healthcare Policy and Research (AHCPR) reported:  “Spinal manipulation and the profession most closely associated with its use, chiropractic, have gained a legitimacy within the United States health care system that until very recently seemed unimaginable…In the past several decades, chiropractic has undergone a remarkable transformation…Labeled an ‘unscientific cult’ by organized medicine as little as 20 years ago, chiropractic is now recognized as the principle source of one of the few treatments recommended by national evidence-based guidelines for the treatment of low back pain, spinal manipulation.  In the areas of training, practice, and research, chiropractic has emerged from the periphery of the health care system and is playing an increasingly important role in discussions of health care policy.”  “Chiropractic has undergone a remarkable transformation…and so have I.”  Wayne B. Jonas, Director of the Office of Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health.

“The chiropractic profession is assuming its valuable and appropriate role in the health care system in this country and around the world. As this happens, the professional battles of the past will fade and the patient at last will be the true winner.”  Wayne Jonas, MD
